A little about me, Danielle, your guide. My mother was French from Paris and my father was Colombian. I grew up in Bogota, Colombia and speak Spanish fluently. Bogota is also a very Francophile city. The first ten years of my schooling were at the Lycee Francais Louis Pasteur. My French grandparents and aunt moved to Colombia so I spent a lot of time in French speaking households. I was a French major in college and have always spoken fluent French.
Eventually my grandparents passed away and my aunt moved back to France. At this point I began to visit France with the best guides ever – my Mom and my Aunt. I experienced all of Paris and its suburbs as well as the Loire valley and all its wonders since my Aunt lived in Tours.
When they passed away I felt like I had lost my French heritage and would soon forget my French!. So I made an effort to go to France when ever possible and I concentrated on the Dordogne valley – for a new experience.
Five years ago a friend and I took a walking tour through the Dordogne and fell in love with it. The last four years I have returned with all kinds of friends, relatives and strangers, to enjoy and learn more about this beautiful area……Now I am sharing and teaching my love of France to others. It has been an enriching and challenging experience which I hope I can pass along!
