Getting There
Miscellaneous Information and Tips
Trans-Atlantic Flights
Start checking the Internet for flights early (January!) for the best fares. Compare fares into the following airports:
- Paris CDG
- Bordeaux BOD
- London LHR
- Madrid MAD
Getting to Bergerac
- From Paris CDG Airport: Take the TGV (bullet train) leaves from the airport to Bordeaux or Libourne
- From the Paris Montparnasse train station: Take the TGV to Bordeaux or Libourne
- From Bordeaux or Libourne: Take the local train to Bergerac (both the Sarlat and Perigeux trains stop in Bergerac)
*NOTE: When you arrive in Bordeaux or Libourne you have to go through a tunnel under the tracks. If possible, I suggest that you get your ticket in Paris or in the U.S. If you already have your ticket, you can go through the tunnel directly to the track for your train. Otherwise, go to the station to get your ticket. The word for "track" in French is "VOIE".
**NOTE: In all the stations there is a large orange metal post (a machine) where you have to validate your ticket before getting on the train. Watch the other people around you to see what they're doing. The ticket validation machines typically look like this.
- From the Bordeaux airport, take a shuttle bus to the train station, then the local train to Bergerac (as above).
- From London take Ryan Air or FlyB or another airline out of Stansted or Gatwick directly to Bergerac.
Of course, you will let me know your travel plans ahead of time, and I will be at the Bergerac station or airport to pick you up.
